On Thursday, 23 June 2016, the three members of the Board of TIV met Ekhard Zinke, President of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), at the authority’s headquarters in Flensburg. In the course of the meeting that lasted about one and a half hours, which took place in a very pleasant atmosphere, the board presented the goals, activities and members of our association and underlined the significance of the trailer industry for the German economy. Mr Zinke displayed a great deal of interest and welcomed the foundation of the TIV.

In addition, many of the challenges were discussed, which our members, but often also the KBA, have been faced by in recent years such as the introduction of the European type approvals that has been accompanied by many subsequent changes and not inconsiderable costs. Here Mr Zinke stressed the role of his authority as a purely executive body, that has the task of implementing directives from Berlin or Brussels. However, he also encouraged a continuation of the interchange of ideas that has now commenced between the TIV and KBA, a suggestion that the board was very keen to take up.
