Warning: Fake Onlineshops
The trailer industry is also affected.
The company Humbaur alerted us to the existence of a fake online store that purports to offer trailers and accessories from various manufacturers—including nearly all TIV members—at exceptionally low prices. These offers were posted on a deceptively authentic copy of a specialty gardening and landscaping retailer’s website. This has already caused confusion among resellers, who suspected that manufacturers were violating contractual agreements. At least one of the affected manufacturers has since filed a criminal complaint.
The website in question is already offline again. Currently, such incidents are being observed in various industries. We recommend that our members remain vigilant, use common sense to verify offers in the digital space, and file a criminal complaint if in doubt—not least to provide clarity to contractual partners. We also recommend warning customers about such shops where appropriate and communicating your own genuine domains.
We would like to thank Olaf Sackers, Managing Director of our member company Humbaur GmbH in Gersthofen, for bringing this to our attention. Anyone seeking further information on this matter is kindly asked to contact Karlheinz Spägele.
